Dark droppings — pointed for mice, blunt for rats

- Rodents defecate as they move; droppings concentrate at feeding sites and along runways.

- Continuous. Fresh droppings are shiny and pliable; old ones are dry and crumble.
- What it tells you
- 3–8 mm pointed = house mouse. 12–19 mm capsule = Norway rat. 8–12 mm curved = roof rat.
